It’s the perfect month for a getaway, so we’ve created a handy guide to inspire you on where to go in December.
India
December sees India at its busiest – and with good reason. The weather is clear and sunny, humidity is low and there is a festive cheer in the air. Aside from the mountains, where it can get quite chilly, all areas of this vast country offer glorious weather. Perfect for exploring ancient cities in the north or relaxing on a houseboat in the tropical south.
Myanmar
December is a great time to visit Myanmar, with the temperature rising slowly after the rainy season, but before the heat of the early months of the year. Cycle between ancient jungle temples, float along picturesque Inle Lake and get to know local communities and traditions.
Argentina
If you’re a sucker for scenery and fancy an active holiday, Argentina’s Patagonia is the ideal spot. December is the perfect time of year to visit Patagonia. Why? The weather will be mild, the skies will be blue and you can explore the glaciers to your heart’s content.
Cambodia
Cambodia draws crowds during December to the pristine white beaches, ancient ruins of Angkor Wat and dense jungle. You’ll find it cool and dry during this month, with an average temperature of 27 degrees. The perfect Christmas getaway. It does get very busy at this time of year so best to book well in advance.
Lapland
Winter is a wonderful time for Lapland. Although it can be visited all year round, one of the most magical months to visit is definitely December. You’ll find lots of deep snow to play around in, the awe-inspiring aurora northern lights and a festive atmosphere everywhere you go.
Cuba
With good weather, lovely beaches and lots to do, December is a fine month to visit Cuba. It’s the ideal place to celebrate the festive season. Availability can be tight though, so book early. The international Latinoamericano film festival also takes place in Havana – a wonderful way to experience local film.
Vietnam
With the rain easing off in the central regions and ideal conditions elsewhere, Vietnam is a great choice in December if you’re looking for that winning combination of culture, scenery, sizzling street-food and laid-back beaches. Ah bliss.
