Day 1 – Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho

This morning you’ll join up with the rest of your small group and drive from Ho Chi Minh to Cai Be, the jumping off point for the Mekong Delta. Here, you’ll hop into a motorboat and begin your river journey. Throughout the afternoon you’ll pass small islands and riverside villages, and get a glimpse into working delta life, tasting tropical fruits and watching life unfold. After a few hours, you’ll reach the delta city of Can Tho, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 2 – Floating market & Tiger Island

Early this morning you’ll head out to visit the famous floating markets, taking in the bustling atmosphere as locals pick up their supplies from the array of vendors along the river. You’ll make a stop at one of the villages along the way to get a little glimpse into workings of the local rice industry, before hopping on the ferry over to Tiger Island.

The island is often bypassed by day-trippers, but here you’ll experience the warmth of Vietnamese hospitality and cuisine up close, as you have lunch in a local home. In the afternoon you’ll hop on a rickshaw for a leisurely ride around this green island, where you’ll visit ancient temples and learn about the farming practices used in the area. Afterwards, you’ll continue your journey along the river to Chau Doc, where you’ll be spending the second night.

Day 3 – Chau Doc to Phnom Penh

Today, you’ll leave Vietnam behind and cross into Cambodia. The whole journey will take around 6 hours, and you’ll finish the trip by sailing into the harbour in Phnom Penh, where a whole new adventure awaits….

P.S. Along the way you’ll cross the border, where you’ll climb ashore to complete the paperwork and await your visa.  You’ll need a passport photo and around $35 per person, but we’ll remind you about this before you travel!
