Xin Chao Hanoi!
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Hanoi
Hanoi is high on atmosphere, making it a brilliant place to begin a trip to Vietnam. You’ll stay in close proximity to the Old Quarter, the cultural heart of Hanoi. The central hotel is a great place to settle into your Vietnamese adventure. Ambling between the backstreets you’ll come across sacred temples, shoemakers and hawkers serving up steaming bowls of herb-rich Pho.
Days 2-3 – Like a local & departure
Today you’ll visit a local cafe for a tasty Vietnamese coffee, here you’ll meet your guide who’ll double as your language tutor. They’ll explain the basics of the Vietnamese language and give you a “survival kit” for your time travelling in Vietnam. With your new found skills you’ll wander through the Old Quarter together and find plenty of chances to interact with the local Vietnamese sellers and buy souvenirs.
After around 4 hours you’ll take the final step of the lesson by pulling over a taxi and telling the driver in Vietnamese to take you back to your hotel. The afternoon is free for you to explore the rest of the city and perhaps practice the Vietnamese you’ve just learnt. While most of Hanoi is hectic, Hoan Kiem Lake is a great spot to slow down and catch your breath.
After breakfast on day 3 it’s time to head on to the next destination on your Vietnam itinerary.
