Bite-sized trip
  • Itinerary:
Hanoi - Pu Long - Hanoi
  • Duration:
    3 days / 2 nights
  • Price:
From £ 468.- per person (excluding flights)
Explore the untouched Vietnam, filled with bright green rice fields, wavering rivers and traditional farming communities. Here you'll live in a stilted eco-lodge, just like the locals do, and explore the surrounding areas with your local guide. Cycle past the rice fields, hike to the waterfalls and visit tiny hidden villages scattered around.

Day 1 – From Hanoi to Pu Luong

Today a private driver will take you away from the buzz of Hanoi and into the untouched, real Vietnam. Only a 5-hours drive away lies the land of rice paddies, traditional stilted villages and peaceful green vistas. Quite possibly one of the most scenic regions of the country! You’ll part ways with your driver in the small town of Pho Doan. From here, accompanied by your local guide, you’ll walk to the stilted eco-lodge located in Ban Hieu, amongst traditional Vietnamese farms.

Set right by an idyllic lake, the lodge is packed with character and local charm. Lovingly restored by its owners, with the traditions and the original style in mind, this is your home for the next couple of nights. The décor is tasteful and welcoming (and somewhat rustic), and the 2 bathrooms are shared between the guests. Here you’ll get to experience the authentic stilted house living, slightly elevated.

Day 2 – Exploring the Pu Luong area

In the morning at breakfast (expect plenty of fresh exotic fruit instead of your standard continental) you’ll discuss your plans for the day with your guide. Whether you choose to explore the area on foot or on a bike, the routes are aplenty and the scenery lush, especially if you’re travelling here between May and October when the rice paddies are turning all shades of green, from dark emerald to bright lime. Stroll past the rice terraces, hike to the waterfall and share a cup of herbal tea with the locals in one of the villages you’ll be walking past. You can return to your lodge whenever you like, your guide will be with you throughout the day.

Days 3 – Departure from Pu Luong

After a goodnight’s sleep and another wonderful breakfast full of freshly picked fruit, you’ll bid farewell to this hidden paradise and head to your next destination.
