Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival at Ba Be National Park
You’ll be collected from your hotel in Hanoi by a private driver to begin your journey north. Over the next few hours you’ll pass mountainous rural scenery as you make your way to the National Park. Your hosts will be waiting to greet you to your private room in a stilted wooden house on the banks of the lake. The accommodation is fairly basic, but comfortable and you’ll share a bathroom with other guests. After lunch, you’ll take a wooden boat trip out on the lake and visit Dau Dang Waterfall. You’ll return to your homestay in time for dinner, before settling down for the evening.
Day 2 – Explore the park
Your day will begin with a hearty breakfast provided by your host family, fuelling you for an active day ahead! Your time here is yours to spend as you wish and there are lots of activities to choose from. You may wish to take kayaks out on the lake and paddle along the grassy banks or cycle to nearby villages that are home to a number of ethnic communities and admire the lush scenery.
If you’re feeling adventurous, there are hiking trails that traverse the park and range in difficulty. Along the way, you’ll have stunning views of the rich and diverse landscape. After an action-packed day, you’ll retire back to your homestay for the evening where you can unwind, get to know the local culture from your hosts and watch the majestic scenery change around you as dusk falls.

Accommodation
For this bite-sized trip we offer the following options
Head to Bac Son and the Ban Gioc Waterfall
If you fancy heading deeper into unspoiled Northern Vietnam then you can switch to this longer 4-day version, where you’ll have a driver and guide to take you into the beautiful regions near to the Chinese border. Staying in a mix of homestays and hotels, you’ll pass through the lush Bac Son Valley, and visit the epic Ban Gioc Waterfall along the way. Due to its remoteness, this part of Vietnam isn’t as widely visited as other parts of the country, but it’s well worth the effort.
We can also offer this trip as part of a small group, if you are interested in this option just let your travel specialist know.
