Camping on the Cham Islands
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Journey to the Cham Islands
You will be collected early from your hotel in Hoi An, to start your ‘Robinson Crusoe’ adventure. A speedboat will take you, along with the daytrippers to the island, where a community of mainly fishermen live. You’ll visit the local market and then hop in a traditional wooden fishing boat which will take you to the uninhabited islands of the Cham archipelago. Here you will go snorkelling and explore the vibrant underwater landscape, spotting a variety of colourful corals, and tropical fish and if you’re lucky you might see a majestic sea turtle coming to the surface for a breath. After a delicious lunch on board, you’ll try your hand at catching something for dinner. Don’t worry if you’re not successful, the guide will provide something tasty for the grill.
In the afternoon
Later in the afternoon, when the daytrippers return to the mainland and the sun starts to set, you’ll return to the island where you will be sleeping tonight. You’ll set up camp on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, a peaceful spot with calm ocean waters just steps away, with the bonus of toilet facilities just a few minutes walk away. Unfortunately, there is sometimes plastic waste that washes up here so you might find yourself getting involved in a beach clean while you’re here…if you can leave the beach cleaner than when you arrived then you’ve done your bit. Once the sun sets, it’s time to light the fire and get the barbeque going, share stories around the campfire and gaze up at the stars while you enjoy your meal before diving into your tent for well-earned rest after today’s adventures.
Day 2 – Return to civilization
After a memorable night in nature, you can wake up to the sounds of crashing waves and start your day with an early morning swim. You’ll have a simple breakfast this morning, before packing up your tent and tidying up. When the day trip boats arrive, you’ll hop on board and head back to civilization, arriving in Hoi An after around 45 minutes. From here you can head to your next destination, but you may prefer to spend another night in Hoi An to rest and recover from your adventures by the pool or explore the ancient town further.
