Honeymoon in Vietnam

For a truly memorable honeymoon packed with exhilarating experiences and romantic moments, the atmospheric country of Vietnam is the perfect destination.

Zip through the backstreets on classic scooters, sleep under starry skies aboard a traditional Chinese junk boat and soak up the tropical sunshine on tiny, secluded islands.  Filled with incredible street food, heartwarming people and hidden chunks of island paradise, Vietnam is not your average honeymoon destination. It’s more.  Far more.  Here are just a few ideas to get you started. Get ready to be inspired!

Chuck yourselves into charming chaos

Vietnam’s cities buzz with activity both day and night and if you’re looking for a honeymoon filled with great food, intriguing cultural encounters and plenty of stories to bring home with you then look no further than starting or ending your honeymoon in either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

Motorbikes weave through the backstreets, a muddle of neon signs flank the streets, food stalls serve up steaming bowls of Pho and locals pull up plastic chairs to shoot the breeze over a beer (or ten). Get lost in the chaos on the back of a Vespa as the two of you scoot through Saigon, wander aimlessly through the mayhem or simply sit back with a thick, sweet Vietnamese coffee and watch the world go by.

Sleep under starry skies in Bai Tu Long Bay

High on romance and relaxation, no honeymoon in Vietnam is complete without drifting between limestone peaks and jungle-clad islands in an azure bay as you explore the extremely picturesque Bai Tu Long Bay.

Far less touristy than its famous neighbour, Bai Tu Long Bay has all of the beauty and wonder of Halong but without the crowds, pollution, and irresponsible tourism.

You’ll sleep aboard a traditional Chinese junk boat with your own private cabin with en-suite. It’s even possible to book out an entire boat for yourselves for a truly special, intimate experience.

By day, you’ll kayak the waters, discover hidden beaches and pass the floating villages that call this region their home. By night, relax on the outdoor deck as dusk cloaks the bay in darkness and sip a drink or two under star-studded skies.

Head for the hills

Vietnam’s highlands are whimsical and mist-swirled, with rice terraces tumbling down the hillsides, plunging valleys and panoramic views. Spend a romantic few days in the hills with your head firmly in the clouds as you trek between mountain peaks, meet the local hill tribes in Sapa and feel totally dwarfed by the staggering scenery.

There are also plenty of breathtaking national parks to explore and what better way to test your recent matrimony than by taking a two-man kayak out across the vast lakes of Ba Be?

Amble barefoot along castaway beaches

Vietnam has plenty of tropical hideaways just perfect for a honeymoon.  From the idyllic shores of Phu Quoc to the golden sands of Mui Ne, there are dreamy beaches and beautiful boutique resorts to stay in that will provide the perfect setting to bring your romantic adventures to an end.

You could also choose to swing in a hammock on Palm Island, your own slice of paradise, snoozing under swaying palm trees and feasting on fresh seafood against a fiery sunset. Think long barefoot days and cool, breezy nights where twinkling lanterns line the shore as bamboo beach bars crank out laid-back beats.
