A perfect blend of tradition, culture and modern Asian lifestyle, Hanoi is a fun-filled city for all ages and is a great place to start any visit to Vietnam with the family. From the ancient streets of the Old Quarter to the serene waters of Hoan Kiem Lake - which draws locals from far and wide - there is plenty to see and do. The street food is delicious too, which you'll sample as you embark on a culinary afternoon out with your private guide. Don't miss the Water Puppet Show either - a must see!

Day 1 – Arrival in Hanoi

Upon arrival into the capital, you’ll be greeted and taken to your small-scale boutique hotel, located within close proximity to the Old Quarter – perfect for you to explore the many sights and sounds of Hanoi from. After a busy day out and about, you’ll have a rooftop swimming pool with panoramic views of the city to cool off in and you’ll find many great places to eat dinner right on your doorstep.

Day 2 – Street food safari

After a relaxing morning, it’s time to head out and immerse yourself in this fascinating city. There is so much for families to enjoy, from the outdoor Museum of Ethnology with full-size replicas of traditional village houses to the hugely popular Water Puppet shows at the famous Thang Long Theatre. There is also Ho Tay Water Park close by.

Later that afternoon, you’ll be met by your guide for a private tour of the Old Quarter – a labyrinth of lane-ways packed with colonial architecture, ancient temples, and endless cafes, shops and galleries. Along the way, you’ll be stopping off at hidden eateries and street food vendors to sample a range of local delicacies such as Bun Cha (Vermicelli with herbs and grilled pork) and Banh Goi (stuffed dumplings). You’ll end with a cold glass of freshly brewed beer (or juice for the kids!) at Bia Hoi Corner as you rest your feet and watch the world go by.

Day 3 – Departure from Hanoi

Today, it’s time for you and your family to head to your next destination. You may be catching the sleeper train to discover the hidden caves of Phong Nha National Park or perhaps off to cruise through the soaring limestone islands of Bai Tu Long Bay aboard a traditional junk boat. Wherever beckons next, we’ll be sure to arrange all transfers and transport links in advance.

If you wish to spend longer in the capital, your time here can easily be extended – simply speak to your travel specialist.
