Krabi’s limestone cliffs
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrive in Krabi
The beauty of Krabi is that it fits into any trip. It’s a short flight from Bangkok and Chiang Mai, as well as easily accessible by land from Phuket and Khao Sok. So you can include Krabi at the beginning of your trip, halfway through or at the end. If you’re arriving by plane, it’s a 40-minute drive to your resort. On the way, you can already see the limestone cliffs, for which this area is so famous, rising between the rubber tree plantations. Ao Nang is a busy coastal town; tourism took off here back in the early 1990s. We’ve chosen a resort that’s away from the hustle and bustle, but within 5 minutes walk you’re on the main road that’s lined with restaurants.
Day 2 – Snorkelling at Koh Hong
It’s well worth waking in time for breakfast: expect fresh fruit, banana pancakes, a boiled egg or Thai-style fried rice. After breakfast, board a traditional longtail boat and settle back for the 45 minute journey across the sea to Koh Hong. On the way you’ll see jagged rocks rising out of the sea, and small islands covered in green vegetation. Once at Koh Hong, paddle along the island’s coastline in a kayak, relax on the powder-white sand, or explore the underwater world of colourful fish and coral. After lunch, there is still time to explore the island itself, such as Pilay Beach or the secret lagoon. At 4.30pm you’ll take the boat back to Ao Nang.
Day 3 – Time to move on
Take one last look at the limestone cliffs before leaving this beautiful place. Want to stay longer? No problem – we can arrange your Krabi stay for as long as you wish. If you’re ready to continue your Thai adventure…Peace seekers travel to Koh Yao Yai. There you have the beaches (and almost the entire island) practically to yourself. Or head to Thailand’s most beautiful beach, Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi and watch the sun rise. When you’ve had enough of beach, it’s time to explore Southeast Asia’s largest tropical rainforest, in Khao Sok National Park. Take scenic hikes and spend the night on Lake Racha Praba.
Accommodation
For this bite-sized trip we offer the following options
Relaxing on Railay Bay
Railay Bay has the feel of an island, surrounded by limestone cliffs, yet is quickly accessible from Krabi. You arrange your own longtail boat to Railay Bay, from Ao Nang. The crossing takes about 10 minutes. Here you’ll find a moon-shaped bay with a white-sand beach, cosy resorts and restaurants. You will stay in a comfortable resort, with a pool, by the sea. From the restaurant you overlook the turquoise sea, white beach and limestone rocks all around. Your days are free to kick back and relax.
