As well as vast stretches of white sand and swaying coconut palms, Thailand is also famous for it's cuisine. From spicy coconut curries and stir-fried noodles to fresh papaya salad and crispy spring rolls, it's easy to find something truly mouth-watering. During this trip to the tropical island of Ko Lanta you'll take a cooking class and learn how to make some of these tasty dishes for yourself. You'll stay in a comfortable wooden bungalow, just a short walk from the island's natural rainforest and rugged coastline. You'll have plenty of time to relax on the peach-sand beach and savour the easy going atmosphere.

Day 1 – Arrival in Ko Lanta

On arrival on the island of Ko Lanta you’ll make your own way to your resort. You’ll stay in a comfortable bungalow resort on Ko Lanta. It’s situated on a quiet stretch of coast, making it the perfect spot for some rest and relaxation. You’ll find a good-sized swimming pool and a restaurant serving up a tasty array of Thai and European food. Your bungalow is en-suite and fully air-conditioned. This evening your can explore your resort or take a short walk to the beach and watch the sun sink slowly beneath the horizon.

Day 2 – Half Day cookery class

Today you’ll have the opportunity to get a real taste of the island during a half day cooking class. In a small group you’ll be taught all about the exotic herbs and secret spices that make Thai cuisine so delicious. Everyone has their own work station, and you’ll be encouraged to explore your creativity and taste your creations along the way. The menu is different everyday, but you can expect a variety of dishes from rich, creamy curries and hot and sour soups to fresh, leafy salads, stir-fried vegetables or caramelised fish. Profits from the cookery school go directly to Lanta Animal Welfare.

Days 3-4 – Free time & departure

Today is free for you to do as you please. If you’re feeling active there are plenty of activities available on the island, some of which can be booked through your resort. The east coast of Ko Lanta is made up of dense mangrove forests, limestone islands jutting straight up from the sea and dark caves leading to hidden emerald lagoons. It’s the perfect place for canoeing or kayaking. Alternatively, you could rent a bicycle and explore the island under your own steam, or take a snorkelling or scuba diving trip to some of the smaller, nearby islands. On the other hand you could just sit back and relax by the pool or on the soft sands of the nearby beach!

The following day you’ll say goodbye to Ko Lanta and make your own way to the pier, ready for your next adventure.
