Koh Mak

Day 1 – Travel to Koh Mak

Today, you’re off to the peaceful island of Koh Mak. It’s situated between Koh Chang and Koh Kood, and it’s about an hour’s boat ride to either. As you get close to the island, your boat will slow down, giving you plenty of time to take in the amazing views: think white sandy beaches lined with swaying palm trees—it’s total paradise. Your idyllic bungalow is located in the northwest of the island, right on the beach and with stunning views of the island of Koh Kham just off the coast. The bungalows are comfortable and air-conditioned, and you can relax by the pool while soaking up the scenery. There are some restaurants and bars within walking distance, but if you prefer to stay in, the resort’s restaurant serves up some tasty meals.

Day 2  – Explore the island

Your time in Koh Mak is free to relax, snorkel or explore. Rent a scooter and cruise from beach to beach, or book a snorkelling trip to nearby islands like Koh Kham, Koh Kradad, and Koh Rayang, where you’ll find vibrant coral and tropical fish. Koh Mak itself has plenty of small bays that you can only reach by foot or kayak. With turquoise waters, pristine white sand, and swaying coconut palms in the background, it’s the perfect getaway.

Island hopping

Koh Chang, Koh Mak, and Koh Kood are located quite close together, and make a fun island hopping combination. Koh Chang is the biggest of the islands and quite lively, while Koh Mak and Koh Kood are hidden gems that most travellers overlook. Koh Chang is a good starting point. You can easily get to Koh Chang from Bangkok, Khao Yai, or even Cambodia. Then hop over to Koh Mak, where the underwater world is absolutely stunning. Finish your trip on the laid-back Koh Kood, where you’ll find powdery white beaches that are perfect for relaxation.

Day 3 – End of your stay on Koh Mak

It’s time to move on, but if you want to spend longer on Koh Mak, just mention this to your Travel Specialist and they can build another night or two into your Travelplan. If this is the end of your Thai adventure, you’ll head back to the mainland. From there, it’s easy to catch a bus or a flight back to Bangkok. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, why not explore Cambodia? You can travel overland to Battambang and explore rice fields, hidden temples, and caves.

Just a heads up: make sure to bring enough cash with you because there are no ATMs on the islands, and using credit cards can come with extra fees.
