Khao Yai National Park: Waterfalls and Jungle Trails
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival at Khao Yai National Park and bat exodus
During this trip to Khao Yai, you will stay in a comfortable and spacious bungalow, set in beautiful gardens and surrounded by the jungle. After settling in and freshening up, you’ll set off to catch sunset at the bat cave. You’ll witness thousands of bats swarm out in the light of the setting sun and into the National Park for their evening feast.
Day 2 – Khao Yai National Park safari
You’ll have an early start today and set off on a small open pickup (songthaew) with your guide and fellow travellers in search of some wildlife. Your guide is excellent at spotting the wildlife and the bus will stop often for you to get out and see some of the animals in the jungle canopy. It’s worth bringing some binoculars with you to spot them hiding.
After lunch, you’ll set off on a 2-hour trek through the jungle. Your guide will explain everything you see along the way, pointing out edible leaves and creatures. As dusk arrives, you’ll notice the sights and sounds of the jungle beginning to change. The noise of crickets will become deafening, and now is your best chance to see elephants, wildcats and porcupines.
Day 3 – Departure from Khao Yai
Today, your Khao Yai adventure comes to an end. So after breakfast and a quick swim, you’ll be transferred to the train or bus station for your next adventure.
