This is paradise in a nutshell. Of all the islands in Thailand, Ko Yao Yai is one of the least developed and a perfect spot for families seeking a desert island experience. The island lies in an inland sea south of Thailand, surrounded by uninhabited rocky islands that thrust up from the water, full of secluded coves and tiny, hidden bays. There are a few friendly residents, but hardly any tourists at all, giving you a truly remote beach escape. You'll spend three nights on Ko Yao Yai island in a family-run beach bungalow on a white powdery palm-lined beach. During your time here we'll arrange for you to take a day trip by traditional longtail boat to hidden lagoons, abandoned beaches and superb snorkelling spots.

Day 1 – Arrival on Ko Yao Yai

Today, you’ll be collected in Phuket or Krabi and taken to the pier for the ferry crossing to Ko Yao Yai Island. An hour and a half later, you’ll arrive at Ko Yao Yai, an idyllic island standing in Pha Nga Bay. On the way, you’ll pass the sheer limestone rockfaces for which the bay is famous, and watch seabirds soar in the cloudless sky. You’ll be met at the pier by your friendly hosts who’ll take you to your family-run accommodation with a swimming pool that looks out to the neighbouring islands. Now it’s time to relax – enjoy the peace and quiet or head to the beach to collect seashells. In the evening you can indulge yourselves at the hotel’s restaurant directly by the sea.

Day 2 – Longtail boat tour

The following day you’ll wake up to the rising sun emerging between the impressive rock formations and islets of the Andaman Sea. After enjoying your breakfast to the sound of waves gently lapping the shore you’ll set off in a longtail boat for Ko Hong, an island with two white beaches and a beautiful lagoon. Jump into your kayak and paddle your way through limestone cliffs and seek out hidden caves, some of which are inhabited by bats and swallows. In the afternoon, you’ll visit another beach where the water is unbelievably clear and you can snorkel amongst the coral accompanied by shoals of rainbow-bright fish.

Days 3-4 – Free time and departure from Ko Yao Yai

White sandy beach, a hammock and a book – that’s all you need to be happy when on Ko Yao Yai. That’s why we’ve left a full day free for you to do as you please. If you’re up for something a little more active, take a gentle hike to one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, Hua Laem Beach. On the final day your paradise stay comes to an end and it’s time to say goodbye as you move onto your next destination.
