Day 1 – Elephant spotting in Udawalawe National Park
Today you’ll head to the Udawalawe National Park. En route, you’ll stop at the Elephant Transit Home where injured and orphaned elephant calves are cared for. Watch as the elephants amble impatiently behind the keepers at feeding time.
Afterwards, you’ll continue to Udawalawe National Park where you’ll take a jeep safari. Besides elephant the park is home to sambar deer, monkeys, water buffalo and various species of bird. Keep your eyes peeled and your camera at hand.
After an exciting afternoon, you’ll leave the park and drive the short distance to a comfortable hotel with a pool where you’ll be spending the night.
Day 2 – Depart Udawalawe
It’s just a short stay in Udawalawe. Today you will continue your journey through Sri Lanka. If you would like to stay an additional night in the national park to maximise your wildlife spotting chances, then mention this to your travel specialist.
If you’re looking for some R&R time, it’s just a short drive to the south coast beach of Mirissa where you can spot whales between November and April.
