Day 1 – Arrival in Trincomalee

Today you’ll drive towards the east coast of the island and, en route, you’ll pass through arid landscapes with wild elephants, hidden villages and green rice plantations where the locals are hard at work. Once you’ve arrived in Trincomalee, you’ll check in to your cosy hotel which is situated right on the beach. Here, you can enjoy a little slice of paradise with a soft sandy beach, green palm trees and the blue sea right on your doorstep. For the rest of the day, you’ll have some free time to relax and soak in your surroundings. Take a dip in the pool, snorkel in the clear sea or simply enjoy a good book under the shade of a palm tree.

Day 2 – Trincomalee – free time

After breakfast, it’s totally up to you to decide what you want to do with your day. If you fancy exploring somewhere new, you could arrange a day trip to another beach. All you have to do is speak to your driver to agree a pick up time. On the beach, you’ll meet the locals who often sail boats to nearby Pigeon Island. Alternatively, head to Trincomalee town and wander through the old harbour past colourful boats, explore a Hindu temple where locals bring offerings to the gods and discover an old Dutch fort.

Day 3 – Departure from Trincomalee

Depending on what time you need to leave today, you might choose to spend this morning relaxing at the pool or taking a splash in the sea. When it’s time to head off, you’ll pack up and hop into the car with your driver who’ll take you to your next destination.

Bear in mind that the beaches of the east coast are best visited during the British summer time between May and August.
