Day 1 – Arrival in Galle, walking tour & treasure hunt

Galle is on everybody’s travel list and today it’s time for you to explore what’s hidden behind the ancient fort walls! This town’s certainly got character and for you to fully immerse in its rich culture and history, we have found a charming hotel, located in the heart of Galle’s old quarter, with numerous cafes and restaurants on the doorstep.

Depending on your time of arrival, late this afternoon you will take a walking tour around the Old Town of Galle – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your charismatic guide is something of a local legend and will share stories about Galle’s heritage and traditions as you walk. To keep the kids engaged and interested, he’ll adapt the tour to include a fun, picture based treasure hunt. Plus there’s an ice cream waiting at the end! If there’s anything in particular you would like him to focus on, just ask, as he can personalise the tour for your interests. This tour is a fun way to get your bearings but we can arrange it for tomorrow if you’d prefer.

Day 2 – Free time

Your day is free for you to do as you please. Enjoy quaint cafes, wander around the town and sample some seriously sumptuous street food. If you happen to be here on a Sunday, we highly recommend visiting the Flea Market where you can easily spend a good few hours. If you’d prefer to do the walking tour this afternoon, just let your Travel Specialist know.

If your family enjoy food and cooking, we can arrange a two-hour Sri Lankan cooking class in the heart of Galle Fort. Under the watchful eye of a local chef, you will learn to make several traditional dishes. At the end of the class, you’ll sit down with your fellow amateur chefs and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Day 3 – Departure from Galle

Sadly, it’s time to leave Galle today. You can continue exploring Sri Lanka’s Southern coast and stay on one of the many beaches for a few days of relaxation. Or, if your adventure has come to an end, head to Colombo for the final day on the emerald island.
