Day 1 – Arrival at homestay & city tour

Today you will arrive in the area surrounding Kandy, a city nestled amongst tea plantations and mountains. Your home for the next couple of days is a welcoming homestay just outside the city, this is a great place to learn about local life and stay in a Sri Lankan home. This afternoon you’ll head out on a city tour to see the sights of Kandy, the Temple of the Tooth is a must!

Day 2 – Cooking lesson & cultural show

This morning you and your family will start the day with a stroll through the village before a hearty breakfast with your hosts. Afterwards, you’ll head to the market to pick up some tasty supplies and learn about the ingredients on offer here, taking in the colourful sights along the way. A local cook will teach you how to whip up a Sri Lankan curry using the fresh produce before you can tuck in and try the dish for yourselves.

This evening you will head into the city once again for a cultural show at the Temple of the Tooth. This is one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world and this evening you and your family will get to see the rituals and traditional cultural practices up close. There is drumming, acrobatics, fire-eaters and even walking over hot coals to marvel at, which should amaze all ages!

Day 3 – Departure from homestay

The following day you’ll wave goodbye to your host family and head off to your next destination on your family adventure through Sri Lanka.
