Day 1 – Arrival in Kalpitiya & lagoon boat trip

Today you’ll travel to Kalpitiya,  a quiet beach destination with non-touristic beaches and a wildlife-rich lagoon. After settling in your beachfront hotel, it’s time to get onto the water for an afternoon boat trip. Kalpitiya Lagoon is Sri Lanka’s second largest, home to countless birds and surrounded by lush mangroves. Along the way, you’ll pass small fishing villages. Sit back, relax and take in the picturesque views, and afterwards, you’ll be taken back to your hotel.

Day 2 – Dolphin spotting

If it’s dolphin season (Nov-Apr), then this morning, you’ll have an early start as you head out dolphin-watching. The waters off Kalpitiya are home to huge pods of dolphins, and there’s a good chance you’ll see them leaping and playing around your boat. But keep your eyes peeled because you might even spot a whale. In Kalpitiya, the dolphin-watching operations are still on a small-scale basis, so you won’t be joined on the sea by lots of large boats.

Afterwards, you can spend the day relaxing by the beach. While you enjoy a good book and recharge your batteries, your kids are swimming in the sea and playing beach games. If you are feeling active, you might also want to visit one of the kite-surfing schools.

Day 3 – Departure from Kalpitiya

Depending on what time you’re heading off today, you could spend the morning stretched out in a hammock or cooling off in the sea. When it’s time to move on, you’ll pack up and hop in the car with your driver, ready for the next adventure. Not quite ready to leave? Let us know if you want us to extend your stay.
