You stay one night in a safari tent and one night at a floating camp right in the heart of Khao Sok National Park. The jungle is bursting with wildlife, hornbills live high in the trees, gibbons can often be heard calling to their mates, and macaques maybe spotted swinging through the branches, but the highlight for many is meeting the resident elephants.

Day 1 – Arrival in the private reserve

Today you will arrive at a private reserve near Kruger National Park. The reserve has the same vegetation and animal species as the park and, with a higher density of wildlife, you’re likely to spot even more animals here! Your family’s accommodation is a luxurious safari lodge set in the heart of the bush, meaning you may see some animals roaming nearby. You will always be accompanied by a guide in the camp, just in case you happen to run into any wildlife while you’re here – but it doesn’t happen often. During your stay here, breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included so you can sit back, relax and get fueled up for your safaris which we will book in advance for you. This afternoon you’ll head out on your first game drive with an experienced guide, your first of two per day.

Day 2 – In search of the Big 5

The following morning it’s an early start for a sunrise game drive before breakfast. You’ll head out with an experienced guide and tracker to follow the animals’ footprints, with your expert tracker sitting at the front of the vehicle, you should have the best chance at spotting some epic wildlife. In these private reserves, only the local safari lodges can organise game drives so you won’t come across many other cars, and the rangers can get as close as possible to the animals. Keep your eyes peeled for any of the forty larger animal species including lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos and hyenas. After all the excitement, you’ll be ready for a big breakfast, so it’s time to head back to your lodge for your first delicious meal of the day. You’ll have some time to relax before lunch so let the children splash around in the pool while you search the treetops for the 350 species of birds that nest here, each one more colourful than the other.

This afternoon you’ll head out on another game drive to spot more incredible wildlife that calls this region their home, creating more treasured family memories together. Enjoy your final evening at the safari lodge, eating a delicious meal by the campfire and sharing highlights from the last few wildlife-packed days.

Day 3 – Departure from private reserve

Enjoy your final morning waking up to the hundreds of bird species above, before enjoying another delicious breakfast to set you up for the day’s journey. You’ll be heading off on your next family adventure in South Africa.
