Experience the tranquillity of the Costa Vicentina, away from the mass tourism of the Algarve. This region of Portugal's southwest coast has everything, except for other tourists. Discover steep cliffs leaning over golden beaches and cork tree lined roads leading to historic villages. You will spend a day walking along the coast, finding enough time to swim along the way and stop off for a picnic.

Day 1 – Arrival in Vila Nova de Milfontes

On your journey today you might decide to arrive a bit later than normal at your destination of Milfontes. It is a lovely village, but there is also a lot to see along the way! Take the route that winds to lesser-visited Sétubal and Troia and be rewarded with beautiful views along the way. With a bit of luck, you may even spot dolphins in the Rio Sado as it empties into the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 2 – Hiking along the coast

Make sure you have a decent breakfast this morning and get ready to explore a stretch of coast that many others just drive straight past. We’ve arranged transport for you to a little town called Almograve, where you walk along the coast on the Rota dos Pescadores. It a 15km walk and mainly through loose sand, but you can go at your own pace and stop along the way to eat your packed lunch or head off on a swim from a deserted cove. At end of the trail there is a ferry that’ll take you back across the river to Vila Nova de Milfontes.

Day 3 – Departure from Costa Vicentina

Today it’s time to say goodbye and continue your road trip. If you’re heading to Lagos, be sure to stop along the way at Odeceixe, a lovely coastal town.

2Option
