Steep Cliffs of Costa Vicentina
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Vila Nova de Milfontes
On your journey today you might decide to arrive a bit later than normal at your destination of Milfontes. It is a lovely village, but there is also a lot to see along the way! Take the route that winds to lesser-visited Sétubal and Troia and be rewarded with beautiful views along the way. With a bit of luck, you may even spot dolphins in the Rio Sado as it empties into the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 2 – Hiking along the coast
Make sure you have a decent breakfast this morning and get ready to explore a stretch of coast that many others just drive straight past. We’ve arranged transport for you to a little town called Almograve, where you walk along the coast on the Rota dos Pescadores. It a 15km walk and mainly through loose sand, but you can go at your own pace and stop along the way to eat your packed lunch or head off on a swim from a deserted cove. At end of the trail there is a ferry that’ll take you back across the river to Vila Nova de Milfontes.
Day 3 – Departure from Costa Vicentina
Today it’s time to say goodbye and continue your road trip. If you’re heading to Lagos, be sure to stop along the way at Odeceixe, a lovely coastal town.
Accommodation
For this bite-sized trip we offer the following options
Vila Nova de Milfontes - 2 hour surf lesson
Take a surf lesson to learn from a pro. The region and conditions are perfect for beginners, so it’s a great opportunity to give it a try. Experienced surfers can also find good conditions here. The lesson lasts for two hours. Depending on the sea and weather conditions, you’ll head to the beach where surfing is best that day. You’ll first practice for 30 minutes on land and then head into the sea. How cool if you manage to stand up in the end!
Vila Nova de Milfontes - 1 hour SUP lesson
Today, you’ll get active on the water in Milfontes, on the west coast of the Algarve.
Stand-up paddling might seem difficult, but almost everyone quickly gets the hang of it. In 1 hour, you’ll paddle along the pristine cliff coast of the Algarve with an instructor. You’ll paddle into caves, and on warm days, you can take a refreshing dip from your board. You can paddle at your own pace, and as relaxed as it may seem, expect to feel some muscle soreness the next day.
Children are welcome to join, and from the age of 14, they can have their own board. Younger children can ride with their parents on the same board. If you prefer a separate board for younger children, please let us know.
