Day 1 – Arrival to Lagos

Whether you’re arriving from the untouched cliff coast at Vila Nova de Milfontes or the glampsite in Alentejo, reaching this part of the Algarve takes just about 1.5 hours. If today marks the beginning of your holiday, simply pick up your car at Faro airport, and within half an hour, you’ll be at your apartment. The western coast of the Algarve is renowned for its breath-taking beauty – from the rugged cliff coasts to the crystal-clear blue sea and delightful temperatures, it captivates tourists year after year.

We have selected several family friendly apartments, all situated in peaceful locations and equipped with kitchenettes and refreshing swimming pools. One of the perks of this side of the Algarve is the refreshing breeze from the Atlantic Ocean that always provides a pleasant cooling effect.

Day 2 – Kayaking adventure

An active way to explore the coast of Lagos is through a kayaking tour. After your breakfast, head to the Lagos harbour, where you’ll join a catamaran tour. Sail to the famous Ponta da Piedade, where you’ll receive your own kayak. Paddle along the towering cliffs of the West Algarve, explore caves, cliffs, and learn all about the area from a guide during this active adventure. This allows you to enjoy a short getaway on the Algarve and unwind on the beach after the paddling.

Day 3 – Free time to relax & explore

Aside from the kayaking trip, you will have plenty of time to explore the Algarve at your leisure. If kayaking is too active we can arrange a boat trip along the rugged coastline, stopping at caves and dolphin spotting along the way.

We would recommend a visit to Lagos. Strolling through its historic district, you’ll encounter charming cobblestone streets, delightful squares adorned with churches, all enclosed by impressive 16th-century walls. Venture south of the city, and you’ll discover sheltered beaches like Batata and Pinhão, boasting caves, cliffs, and tranquil waters.

For that ultimate ‘end of the world’ sensation, head to Sagres, located at the almost southwestern most point of Europe. Here, high cliffs sculpted by the sea set the dramatic scene. Originally a fishing village, Sagres maintains its maritime heritage with lobster fishing still thriving.

Day 4 – On to the next adventure

Time to pack your suitcase again. If this is the last stop on your holiday, Faro and Lisbon airports are both within driving distance. Have you just started your tour of Portugal? Then enjoy some peace and quiet in Peniche, where you can take a surfing lesson. Are you traveling with teenagers who need more action? Then go for the glamping option in nature, with soft canyoning, river hiking and kayaking.
