Day 1 – Arrival in Cusco
When you arrive in Cusco, you’ll settle into your cosy pousada, set in the heart of the artistic San Blas district. It’s an authentic residential area with fewer tourists than the centre of the city, giving you a glimpse into real life in the valley. Plaza de Armas, Cusco’s main square, is just a fifteen minute walk away, so you’ll have everything you need on your doorstep.
Day 2-3 – Walking tour & departure
After a good night’s sleep, you’ll embark on a history focused walking tour of the city with an English-speaking guide. 500 years ago Cusco was the beating heart of the Inca Empire, which, at its pinnacle, reached from Ecuador to Bolivia and Chile. The city may now be a thriving modern hangout, but it’s peppered with echoes of its Inca past. Perfectly preserved Inca walls flank Calle Loreto, the oldest road in Cusco, without an iota of concrete to keep them in place.
You’ll walk around the imperial city of the Incas starting with Qurikancha, the most important temple of the Inca Empire. Next up is Cusco cathedral and the artisan quarter of San Blas, where you’ll get to admire religious paintings in the church.
After you have explored Cusco, wandered the cobbled streets and visited the sites, you’ll continue your adventure after breakfast on day 3.
