As soon as you arrive in La Paz everything about the city will make you feel as if you've arrived in an unusual place. The city is hidden away in a deep gorge at an altitude of 4000m and surrounded by the snow-covered mountain peaks of the Andes. The city's sunny climate, people wearing bowler hats, the colonial churches and the colourful Indian markets are all uniquely Bolivian.

Day 1 – Arrival in La Paz

On arrival a transfer will be waiting for you at the bus station or the airport to take you to your accommodation. We’ll make reservations for you at a colonial hotel in the centre of La Paz, within walking distance of all the main sights. The hotel rooms surround a small courtyard with a cosy, homely feel. Take it easy today as you adjust to the altitude, drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated.

Day 2-3 – La Paz – free time

Since it’s impossible to know how your body will react to the altitude, there are no activities planned for today. If you feel okay, you can explore the city at your own pace. You can stroll through the city’s squares and street markets, watching people walking by in bowler hats and colourful wide skirts. The witch’s market is a must-see with knitted hats, sweaters made from llama wool and rugs for sale.
