Day 1 – Arrival into Nagarkot & cooking class

Just over one hour drive from the bustling streets of Kathmandu is the peaceful town of Nagarkot. On a clear day you can enjoy fantastic views of the Himalayas from the town’s hilltop location. You’ll be staying at Nagarkot Community Homestay, which is part of the Community Homestay network. This innovative social enterprise supports a network of community homestays throughout Nepal. Their aim is to connect travellers with rural communities and provide a unique opportunity to immerse in real Nepali life, whilst bringing a sustainable source of income to local communities. On your first day you’ll learn to cook authentic local food in a hands-on cooking class. You’ll enjoy the comfort of a private bedroom in a local family’s home and all meals are included in your stay.

Day 2 – Yoga, Hiking, and Farming Adventures in Nagarkot

Most visitors go to Nagarkot for the views and see little beyond the town. But by staying at the Nagarkot Community Homestay you can experience village life beyond the touristy centre. Day two begins with Hatha yoga, followed by a 3-hour scenic hike through forests and farmland with fantastic mountain views. In the afternoon there is the opportunity to learn more about local farming activities with your host, and try your hand at ‘batti’ making.

Day 3 – Departure from Nagarkot

This morning you bid farewell to your hosts as you enjoy a final breakfast before heading off to your next destination. Leaving with not only fantastic memories, but gratitude and a sense of the impact you have had by supporting such a fantastic cause and heart-warming organisation.
