Spiritual Pagodas of Yangon
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Yangon
On arrival in Yangon you’ll be met by a local driver and transferred to your hotel. Your accommodation is located next to Kandawgui lake with its historic sights and tasty restaurants. The hotel itself has some impressive views of the Shwedagon Pagoda too. Depending on your arrival time you might be able to take a wander through the city enjoying your first glimpse of Yangon.
Day 2 – Shwedagon Pagoda – half day tour with guide
This morning your guide will pick you up from your hotel and begin your half day tour behind the golden façade of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Your guide will show you a different perspective of the city and Buddhist religion, exploring the history of the pagoda, the daily lives of the people living around it and how the spiritual belief is mixed with the belief in nats – the Myanmar spirits.
This intriguing half day tour, starting from the bottom of the hill and passing through the workshops, markets and monasteries, will be useful or even essential to understand more of the country during the rest of your journey. The tour includes a traditional Burmese breakfast, offerings to monks and the pagoda, a visit to a fortune teller and a Burmese lunch, what better way to start your trip!
Day 3 – Departure
After breakfast today you’ll wave a fond farewell to Yangon as you’re collected from your hotel and transferred to the bus station or airport to head to your next destination in Myanmar as your adventure continues.
