Bite-sized trip
  • Itinerary:
    Taroudant
  • Duration:
    2 days / 1 night (flexible)
  • Price:
from £ 75.- per person (excluding flights)
Visiting Taroudant, often called "Little Marrakech", feels like stepping back in time to Marrakech 50 years ago, without the crowds. The main attraction here is the well-preserved city walls. Wandering through the medina, you'll immediately soak up the Moroccan atmosphere.

Day 1 – Explore Taroudant

Today you will travel to Taroudant, often called ‘petit Marrakech’. This authentic Berber market town is an atmospheric place to spend a night and attracts very few tourists. The town’s impressive red-mud walls are the best preserved in Morocco and the medina and souks are a lovely place to potter around for a few hours (without being pestered by tradesmen!). We recommended a visit to the Berber market Jnane al-Jaami where you can buy spices and dried fruit, as well as clothing and household goods. More highlights of Taroudant include Place Assarag and Place Talmoklate. Between these squares you will find the Arab souks, where you can buy absolutely everything.

Day 2 – Depart Taroudant

The next morning, enjoy breakfast at the riad before heading to your next destination. If you’re seeking a hidden gem, Tafraoute, a serene oasis nestled in the Atlas foothills, is just a 3-hour drive away. Alternatively, if the fresh sea breeze is calling you, Agadir is only a three-and-a-half-hour drive. Opting for the fishing town of Essaouira will extend your journey to about 8 hours. Speak to our Morocco Travel Specialists for suggestions.

If you want to spend more time soaking up the souks in Taroudant, ask your travel specialist to extend this bite-size trip.
