Day 1 – Arrive at your Agafay desert camp

Just a stone’s throw from Marrakech , you’ll find a completely different world. An hour’s drive from Marrakech (on a bumpy road) to the southwest, you’ll find the Agafay Stone Desert. Although often overshadowed by the famous Sahara Sand Desert, the Agafay Desert offers a unique desert experience. This stony desert stretches across an area of dry, rocky hills and plateaus. In contrast to the endless sand dunes of the Sahara, the Agafay Desert consists of an arid and rocky landscape that varies from vast plains to rolling hills. At night, a special spectacle takes place. We saw a starry sky that takes on beautiful shapes with millions of twinkling stars high in the sky. Wow!

You will sleep in style. In the middle of the desert we have found a comfortable desert camp that is fully equipped. In the afternoon you will enjoy Moroccan ‘ afternoon tea ‘ and take a dip in the pool. Floating with a drink in your hand you will gaze into the no man’s land, where you may even encounter a passing camel caravan. While you are in the great emptiness of the desert, you will feel as if you are at the end of the world. Time is relative here. After you have freshened up in your en-suite bathroom in your tent, it is time for a traditional Moroccan meal. While the desert camp is atmospherically lit with lights, candles and fire baskets, you will enjoy the delicious flavours of the Moroccan kitchen. With a day full of impressions you will dive under the covers and relive the day in dreams.

Day 2 – Sunrise in the desert

The desert turns orange-red as the sun rises. Time to get up. Choose to set your alarm early so that you can experience this special sunrise. With a warm cup of tea in your hand, you will gradually see it getting lighter and feel it getting warmer. Good morning from the desert. This morning, an extensive breakfast will be ready for you in the restaurant. Then it is time to pack your suitcase and continue your tour through Morocco. Would you like to stay in the desert a little longer? That is possible. This is an ideal place to stay an extra night. For example, take a tour on a quad bike, get on a camel or float in the pool for another day.
