Cooking Curry in Chittorgarh
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Chittorgarh
Today you’ll travel from Pushkar to your hotel situated in the walls of Chittorgarh Fort. The largest fort in India, it’s truly a sight to behold.
Winding through the narrow streets, you’ll find houses painted in blue and white, and amongst these quaint buildings you’ll find your home for the night. Our guesthouse is run by a friendly family who’ll make you feel right at home. Head up to the roof terrace and take in the spectacular views over Chittorgarh.
Cooking class
After you’ve freshened up, you’ll be helping to cook your evening meal. Your host family are Brahmins, therefore no meat or alcohol can be consumed in their house. However, they’ll help you cook a delicious and fragrant vegetarian curry.
You’ll chop the vegetables, stir, cut and bake in accordance with their traditional recipes and whip up a selection of dishes that you’ll enjoy for dinner. Yum!
Day 2 – Departure from Chittorgarh
After breakfast you can head out and explore the fort independently. We recommend renting a bicycle from the hotel, as it’s relatively flat and easy to cycle around. If doing so, head out early before it gets too hot!
You can visit the Kambha Shyam temple and Rama Kumbha Palace. Don’t forget to climb the Tower of Victory and revel in the marvellous views from the top. After 2-3 hours you can head back to your hotel and continue with your journey through Rajasthan.
