Find out about our new meaningful India experiences
BlogIndia is one of our favourite destinations – so much so that it has the most bite-size trips to choose from of any Rickshaw destination! We recently took a close look at our India options and made our selection even bigger by adding some brand new experiences that you are sure to love. As usual, we’ve also hand-picked just the right accommodation for each destination, ensuring that you’ll always have a relaxing and comfortable place to retreat after a day of adventuring.
Here are some of the brand new India trips we’ve just recently added:
North India
North India is bursting with spirit and history, from floating lake palaces to golden desert forts, sacred ghats, shimmering saris and scented spice markets. Varanasi and the Taj Mahal are the postcard locations in this region, but there’s a lot more to see when going off the beaten track.
For instance, explore the Rajasthani countryside with our trip to Deogarh, which gives you a glimpse of rural life on a local train ride. This is a great way to meet locals, and watch everyday life as you’re passing through the hills of Rajasthan.
Foodie lover? Try our cooking curry trip in Chittorgarh! You’ll stay in a guesthouse with a local family and also learn some cooking skills. You’ll make delicious curries with your hosts which you’ll enjoy for your dinner, taking home both recipes and memories.
If you prefer a haven of peace, far away from the bustling cities we recommend a trip to Fort Barli, renowned for its heritage hotel. You’ll explore this historical village by ox cart, taking in its rural charm and passing by friendly locals. You’ll even stop to visit a local family.
Rajasthan is well-known for its bustling cities, but nestled between these popular stops it’s possible to find small, oases of calm. We’ve found a couple of quaint villages in Narlai with authentic accommodation where you can take it easy and charge your batteries during your Rajasthan trip.
If you like wildlife experiences, consider adding the Birdwatching in Bharatpur extension to your visit to the Taj Mahal, or spot the famous Bengal tiger on a jeep safari through the Bandhavgarh National Park. This park has the highest density of tigers in India, offering one of the best chances of seeing this majestic animal in the wild. If you’re lucky, you might also spot the elusive leopard…
South India
Southern India has its share of wonderful beach destinations, most famously Goa and Kerala Beach. But we’ve come back from south India just loving the idyllic and tranquil Marari Beach. Here you can stay in a peaceful bungalow right on the beach, set amongst tropical gardens, where you can let your worries melt away. It’s the perfect addition to any India itinerary.
We’ve also updated our popular Kerala valleys trip starting in Bangalore, with the addition of a wonderfully scenic train ride to Cochin — a quaint, colourful coastal town with heavy Portuguese and Dutch influences. On this trip, you also have the option of adding an excursion to the Nagarhole National Park, which is home to elephants, leopards, deer and various species of monkeys and crocodiles!
