Olympia: Faster, Higher, Stronger
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Olympia
Today you’ll travel to the birthplace of the Olympic Games, the town of (you guessed it) Olympia. Surrounded by the hills, this area is famed for its olive oil production and some great vineyards waiting to be explored. You’ll stay in a rural hotel with a swimming pool not far from the town itself. Take in the views, watch the sun go down or explore the town with plenty of charming tavernas offering delicious local food.
Day 2 – Explore the ruins & wine tasting
he next morning head to the main event before it gets crowded. Wander among the ancient temples ruins, picturing the first ever Olympic Games taking place. Walk across the gymnasiums where the Greek athletes were training to take part in the games, held at this very spot. There are two museums dedicated to the ancient and modern Olympic Games on site, both well worth visiting. In the early afternoon head to the local vineyard, where Amanta, your host, will welcome you to their small family-run business. Walk through the vineyard, learn about the wine production process and visit the cellars where dozens of wine barrels mature. Finish your tour by tasting 4 different wines with freshly made snacks. Yamas!
Day 3 – Departure from Olympia
After breakfast it’s time to leave the glorious Olympia behind. Pack your bags, jump in a car and head towards your next Greek adventure.
