Day 1 – Arrive into Mochlos

Today you’ll head to the fishing village of Mochlos, where you will be greeted by traditional white houses with colourful shutters and bright flowers. Settle into your cosy hotel, with breathtaking views over the bay, and head out to the lovely beach nearby. On your first day, take the time to explore the narrow streets of this sleepy spot at your own pace and indulge in the delights of Greek cuisine, savoring the flavours of the region at the charming taverns that dot the village.

Days 2-3 – Boat trip to Spinalonga & the beaches of Vai

Today it’s time to hit the open sea, as you take a boat from from the charming town of Agios Nikolaos to the captivating island of Spinalonga. Steeped in history, this small island was once the home to those with leprosy in the early 20th century. After a few hours exploring the island and its intriguing past, you’ll return to Agios Nikolaos and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Lake Voulismeni. Nestled in the heart of the city, this bustling lake exudes a lively energy. Alternatively, if you prefer a more leisurely experience, bask in the sun at Voulisma Beach, where you can unwind and soak up the tranquil surroundings.

After a relaxing start the following morning, set out to explore the captivating northeast coast, where you will find the palm beach of Vai, home to one of the last remaining primeval palm tree forests on the island. Although this beach can be popular during the summer months, it is still well worth a day of relaxing in the sun here. As you drive along the scenic coastal route toward Vai, you will pass the enchanting town of Sitia. Take a moment to pause and savour a small Greek snack or indulge in a more hearty souvlaki at the harbour.
