Family trip to Chania, child by harbour

Day 1 – Welcome to Chania

The flight from the UK to Chania takes approximately 4.5 hours so it won’t be long until you are checking into your accommodation in this picturesque city. You’ll stay in a modern hotel, with spacious rooms, about a fifteen-minute walk from the old port. Jump in the pool for a refreshing dip before heading out to explore the historic streets and marina. There are plenty of tavernas nearby for your first taste of Greek cuisine.

Day 2 – Walk through historic Chania

We think the best way to explore Chania is on foot so today you will embark on a walking tour through the old centre to learn about the city’s interesting past. We will provide you with a booklet with three walks which take in the highlights and hidden gems of this historical area. Explore the streets within both the Byzantine and Venetian city walls where the Venetians and Ottomans once lived, leaving their mark on the city’s architecture. Wander down alleyways with arches, staircasess and colourful flowers, where small houses sit side by side next to large Byzantine churches and minarets.

Day 3 – Continue your journey through Crete

After your city trip, you’ll collect your rental car and explore the rest of Crete. From Chania you can travel via beautiful beaches to the authentic village of Vamos to cook up a storm or head straight for the beach at Agia Galini.
