Las Terrazas Eco Experience
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Las Terrazas
Las Terrazas is surrounded by lush forested hills that roll into the horizon. When you arrive, you’ll check into your unusual eco-resort with an airy atrium built around a giant lime tree. The branches disappear through the skylight and several of the rooms have trees growing through the balconies and ceilings. With a swimming pool, restaurant and open-air bar, it’s somewhere you won’t forget in a hurry.
Day 2 – Guided tour of the area and community
On day 2 you’ll set out to explore with a local guide. You’ll visit Rancho Curujey, where you’ll learn about the history and purpose of the eco-project, which now sustains a whole community. Next, you’ll explore the stunning scenery of Las Terrazas, taking in the ruins, drying fields and grinders of the former coffee plantations.
En route, you’ll drop in at La Casa del Café de Maria to share a punchy cup of local coffee with the farmers, and top it off with a refreshing dip in the natural pools of Baños de San Juan. The rest of your time is your own to relax by the lake next to the resort, browse the artist studios or simply take a stroll around the village.
Day 3 – Departure from Las Terrazas
After breakfast at the hotel it’s time to leave the peaceful surroundings of Las Terrazas and continue to the next stop on your Cuban adventure.
