Discover Nature’s Paradise

Bite-sized trip
  • Itinerary:
    Playa Larga
  • Duration:
    3 days / 2 nights (flexible)
  • Price:
from £ 110.- per person (excluding flights)
On Cuba’s south coast you’ll find a scattering of small villages rarely visited by tourists. It’s not surprising that few people make it here, since it's a world away from the luxury resorts and pristine beaches of the north coast. Here you'll find a more rugged beauty, with just a few casas and locally run eateries. It's a relaxing place and the nearby Zapata National Park area is great to explore, both above and below the water.

Day 1 – Arrival in Playa Larga

Playa Larga is a small piece of paradise in the historic Bay of Pigs. Today Playa Larga is part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, perfect for nature walks and bird watching. It’s also ideal if you’re looking to get off the beaten track, snorkel or simply relax in a quiet spot by the coast. You’ll stay in a cosy casa particulars, similar to a B&B. This family-run property has bags of character.

Day 2 – Explore the surrounding area

Today you’ll set out to explore the area with a local guide. Journey to Cuba’s deepest freshwater cave and spot exotic fish darting amongst brightly coloured coral. Your next stop is Sendero Enigma de las Roca, a nature trail jam-packed with flora and fauna. Finish off with a refreshing dip in a natural pool before heading back to your casa. You’ll have the afternoon free to do as you please.

Day 3 – Departure from Playa Larga

After a last Cuban breakfast with your host family, and maybe even a quick morning dip in the sea, it’s time to start packing your bags and say goodbye to Playa Larga. After a relaxing couple of days you’ll be ready for your next adventure.
