Buena Vista Santiago
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Santiago de Cuba
When you arrive in Santiago, you’ll settle into a cosy, locally-run casa particular, not far from the city centre, and can spend the evening exploring. If you’re a music lover, head to the Casa de la Trova in Tivoli, the city’s French Quarter. Top Cuban musicians, such as members of the Buena Vista Social Club, make pop-up appearances here. It’s a soulful Cuban institution that you simply can’t miss.
Day 2 – Private city tour & free time
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up by a local guide who’ll spend the morning introducing you to their city, both by car and on foot. Explore the Moncada barracks, where Castro was captured in 1953, and also visit his burial tomb. Wander around the battlements of the UNESCO-protected Castillo el Morro, visit the Run & Cigar ‘Houses’ before taking a stroll through the Parque Cespedes. You’ll be taken to a local restaurant where you can enjoy an included lunch, before waving goodbye to your guide and either heading back to your casa or exploring more under your own steam.
Day 3 – Cointinue your Cuban journey
As with most of our trips, you can choose to book extra nights if you’d like a little longer in this vibrant city. Otherwise, after breakfast, it’ll be time to pack your bags and carry on your journey through Cuba.
