Into the Cloud Forests of Monteverde
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Monteverde
You’ll spend the next few nights in a rustic lodge with a homely feel and a beautiful garden within walking distance of the town centre. Once you’ve settled in, you can take advantage of some of the local activities available, such as visiting the frog pond to see many different species and learn all about them from a local expert. Alternatively check out one of the restaurants and bars in this bustling town.
Day 2 – Tree top walk with guide
With its high humidity and altitude, Monteverde is full of lush vegetation. You’ll join your guide and a small group of other travellers to experience the cloud forest for yourself. You’ll take a 3km walk along many sturdy bridges and walkways at different heights. As most animals here are nocturnal, and rather shy, the tour will be geared towards a botanical experience, focusing on the diverse variety of plants.
Day 3 – Departure from Monteverde
After breakfast, this trip will sadly come to an end. You’ll pack up your things and check out from your hotel. It’s then time to take the bumpy road onwards to your next destination. As there is so much to do in Monteverde you might decide that you’d like to extend your time here – just let your travel specialist know.

Monteverde - St Elena Cloud Forest Reserve tour
If you’d like to explore a more secluded reserve, which is generally wetter and cloudier than Monteverde, resulting in more dramatic scenery, then we can arrange a tour of St Elena Cloud Forest. This reserve is smaller in size and much denser, with more narrow and generally less developed trails. The trails are longer and generally more challenging, and due to the wetter conditions, they can be more muddy and challenging so best suited to more experienced hikers.
