Costa Rica’s capital might not be top of your family’s must-do list, but the city has its Latin charms and is a pleasant place to start your journey and recover from any jet lag before travelling through this beautiful country. You’ll stay in a comfortable hotel with a swimming pool, just outside of the city centre and near a huge green park where you can recharge your batteries, explore at your own pace and get ready for the adventures ahead.

Day 1 – Arrival in San Jose

You’ll be met at the airport by our local representative, who’ll give you your welcome pack before you’re transferred to your comfy hotel just outside of the centre of the city. Here you can settle in whilst the kids take a dip in the pool. Most flights from Europe arrive in the afternoon or early evening, so you’ll usually have time for a little exploring and dinner in one of the local restaurants before everyone gets a good night’s sleep back at the hotel.

Day 2 – Meet our local partners, and explore the city

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and taken to the office of our local partners, in a nice neighbourhood close to the centre. Coffee is provided, and toys to keep the little ones interested! Our local partner will give you a briefing with lots of useful information about the journey ahead and plenty of time to ask any questions you have – they’ll also be available 24/7 throughout your trip in case you need anything, so it’s nice to know who they are. The afternoon is free for you to hang out in one of the lovely parks, at the hotel swimming pool, try some local food or take a taxi to Museo de los Ninos (Children’s Museum) in the north of the city.

Day 3 – Set off on your journey

After a good sleep, you’ll be ready to start your Costa Rica adventure! Whether you’re travelling by hire car or transfers, we’ll have made all the arrangements for you to start your journey today.
