Set a Tent on Isla Venado
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Welcome to Isla Venado & fishing trip
Today you’ll go off grid and back to basics on an small island off the coast of Costa Rica in the Gulf of Nicoya. You’ll get here by boat from a harbour in the village of Lepanto, where you’ll leave your car. Your local guide, Ronaldo, will meet you at the port and will look after you throughout your adventures. Once on the island, you’ll be welcomed into your modest abode, a simple campsite with stunning views across the bay.
After you’ve settled in and had your lunch (simple but filling), Ronaldo would take you on a fishing trip and show you the ropes. The island’s residents heavily rely on fishing and know all the tricks, so you’ll be learning from the best! Keep your eyes peeled for some wildlife as you travel around the island in your little boat. Back at the camp, you’ll set up your tents and go scouting for some wood. In the evening, as the sun goes down, you’ll gather around the bonfire to share your freshly grilled dinner (catch of the day!) and a few stories before bed. All under the starry skies if the weather is clear.
Day 2 – Departure
The next morning, Ronaldo will whip up your breakfast and take you back to Lepanto, where your car is waiting for you, ready to hit the road and take you to the next exciting destination.
