Nestled in the picturesque countryside of northern Costa Rica, spend a couple of days in the peaceful village of Sarapiqui. Costa Rica tourist and local guide with pineapple

Day 1 – Arrival in Sarapiqui

A couple of hours north of San Jose, and also on the road between La Fortuna and Tortuguero, you’ll find your beds for the next couple of nights in a comfy converted finca (or farm). The rooms are scattered around a beautiful garden, full of butterflies and frogs, and it’s a short walk to the river or to the forest where there are some nice trails for a family walk. You can eat at the finca, or head into the village for dinner at one of the local restaurants.

Day 2 – Explore the pineapple fields

After breakfast you’ll head off to meet Don Rudolfo – a local farmer and your guide for the morning. You’ll head to his farm where you’ll learn about life in the countryside, and the kids are bound to be surprised about how a pineapple grows. You’ll get some delicious tasters of course, and can even try catching your own fish for lunch.

In the afternoon you can choose what you’d like to do. Take a walk through the forest, visit the family-friendly Tirimbina Reserve, or even try your hand at river rafting….

Day 3 – Departure from Sarapiqui

This morning, after breakfast, you’ll set off on the next leg of your journey through Costa Rica.
