  • Itinerary:
    Bogota

    3 days / 2 nights (flexible)
  • Price:

Colombia’s vibrant, mountain-flanked capital has come to symbolise the country’s resurgence. Once considered one of the world’s most dangerous cities, it now welcomes visitors with open arms, and has the history, architecture and charm to be much more than just a starting point for your Colombian adventure. You’ll stay in the colourful cobbled cultural centre – La Candelaria – and we’ll also arrange a trip to the mountain of Monserrate with a local guide, so you can admire this great South American city from above.
Colombia Bogota

Day 1 – Arrival in Bogotá

On arrival in Bogotá you’ll be met by our local partners at the airport – they’ll be available 24/7 throughout your trip if you need anything, so it’s nice to meet them and ask any questions you might have. You’ll be transferred to your comfortable hotel in the charming area of La Candelaria, which is the cultural heart of the city and within easy reach of the main attractions. Once checked in, you’ll be free to relax or set out to explore the area. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby.

Day 2 – Monserrate and sightseeing

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up by a local guide for a trip to Cerro de Monserrate – the mountain which looms over downtown Bogotá and affords an incredible view of the city. The mountain has been viewed as a sacred place long before Colombia was colonised, and later became home to a small church which sits at the top. It’s a beautiful spot to spend the morning and is popular with tourists and pilgrims alike. Once you’ve taken it all in, you’ll return to La Candelaria for the afternoon.

Much of Bogotá’s highlights are easily explored independently on foot. As with any city there are areas it’d be wise to avoid, but you’ll have no need to go to these parts. The centre is full of impressive churches, museums and narrow streets full of colourful artwork and little eateries. If you’d like to have something else arranged for your time in the city, then there’s a range of options including cycling tours, cookery classes, and art or graffiti tours – just have a chat with your Travel Specialist.

Day 3 – Onward journey

We can book extra nights for you in Bogotá of course, since there’s plenty to see and do, but otherwise it’ll be time to check out and travel on to the next stop on your Colombian journey by land or air.
