Adventures on Rio Claro
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival at Rio Claro
Only a 3 hours drive away from Medellin lies a land of adventures, the Rio Claro Reserve. A great spot to get away from it all and loose yourself in nature. Here you’ll stay in a unique lodge overlooking the river, built into the canyon walls using all natural materials. The front opens out into the nature, leaving no boundaries between you and the wilderness, but still providing the feeling of seclusion and privacy. There are no ATMs (stock up on cash as cards aren’t accepted here either) no wi-fi, and English isn’t widely spoken, so brush up your Spanish and don’t be shy: the staff are very welcoming and understanding, and the international sign language gets you far!
We recommend pre-booking your activities as soon as you arrive to help you plan your day and secure your spot.
Days 2-3 – Enjoy the outdoors & departure
Today is all about the great outdoors. Fuel up and head out to explore the wonderful Rio Claro reserve. There’s white-water rafting, zip-lining, via ferrata and a cave tour, plus numerous hikes and a handful of beaches. Make sure to bring sturdy shoes and make the most of your time here. All the activities are guided and done in small groups, and are very well priced (rafting is about £10 per person!). After a day full of fun and adventures have a refreshing dip in the river before your dinner is served at the restaurant. You’ll fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle surrounding you. Then in the morning it’s time to head back to Medellin.
