Day 1 – Arrival in Santiago de Chile

Your trip begins the moment the plane touches down at Santiago’s airport. On a sunny day, and if there’s not too much smog, you’ll have a fantastic view across the city. Once you’ve picked up your bags you’ll be met in the arrivals hall by an English-speaking guide and transferred directly to your hotel in the centre of Santiago. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city and soaking up the atmosphere.

Santiago de Chile has 5 million inhabitants, most of them extremely friendly. The ‘Satiaguinos’ are relaxed, helpful people with a great sense of humour. In the city centre the Spanish colonial buildings and historic churches stand side by side with contemporary office blocks, international restaurants and designer boutiques. But the best thing about the city has to be the spectacular backdrop of the snow-capped peaks of the Andes.

Day 2 – Half day tour with guide

Today you will have a half day excursion to show you around the capital city of Chile. You’ll be collected directly from your hotel and will join a small group of other international travellers for the excursion. During the trip you will discover an interesting mix between the ancient and the modern, such as La Plaza de Armas (the main square), Santa Lucia Hill and the Cathedral. Other historical buildings of interest would be La Moneda (the Government Palace) and the Post Office building. No doubt you will also marvel at the views of Cerro San Cristobal located in the cities biggest urban park.
