Roll through volcano valleys
Wind your way past rolling hills, snow-capped volcanoes and vast blue lakes. The Chilean Lake District is a driver’s dream. Along the way you can stop off at small villages and quaint lakeside towns or make a detour for a picnic lunch.
Lakeside cruising
If you don’t have time for the infamous W-Trek in Torres del Paine National Park, hopping into a hire car is a great alternative. You’ll still get the chance to see the park’s eye-popping scenery of granite peaks, milky blue lakes and icy glaciers and you can still squeeze in a couple of hours trekking too.
The road less travelled
Far off the beaten track, the Carretera Austral and Ruta 40 wind their way alongside the Southern Andes, crossing through both Argentina and Chile. Over the next few days, you’ll discover tiny rural towns, stunning mountain landscapes, wide plains, snow-capped volcanoes, and very few tourists.
