Chile Wildlife Holidays

As well as impressive scenery, Chile also has some great opportunities for seeing wildlife, particularly in Patagonia. If you’re an animal lover and fancy spotting wildlife during your trip but don’t know where to start, take a look at the bite-sized trips below for your best chances.

Spot penguins at the world’s end

Journey to Chile’s most southerly city, Punta Arena, and get up-close and personal with a colony of Magellanic penguins. Spend the day exploring the town before heading off on a boat trip along the Strait of Magellan to Magdalena Island where the penguins run (or waddle) wild. It really has to be seen to be believed.

Discover the wildlife of Torres del Paine

Torres del Paine is famous for its sweeping landscapes, but it’s also home to a pretty impressive array of wildlife. Although you’d have to be pretty lucky to spot a resident puma, there’s a good chance of seeing a fair few of the native guanacos. These camelid creatures live in herds and freely roam the peaks of Torres del Paine.
