Wine Down in Okanagan Valley
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Okanagan Valley
Today you’ll drive to the sunny Okanagan Valley. This region is covered in fertile valleys and rolling hills full of vineyards and fruit trees. From Vancouver, it’s about 5 hours and you can stop at the Othello tunnels on the way. Here you can take a walk through the abandoned railway tunnels overlooking a wild river and the impressive landscape of the canyon. On arrival, you’ll check into your resort, which is close to the bars, restaurants and the lake.
Day 2 – Wine tasting tour
Today, start your day with a hearty breakfast and head out on a wine-tasting tour of the local vineyards. You’ll visit four vineyards, to get a true taste of all the variations of wine this region produces. There are full reds and fruity whites all waiting to be sampled, with a tasty lunch at one of the wineries.
After 5 hours or so, you’ll be transferred back and the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. There are wide sandy beaches where locals and tourists like to sunbathe. Admittedly, it can feel a little strange being on a beach hours from the sea, but it’s still a relaxing experience. You can also do watersports such as windsurfing or water skiing here too if you’e looking for some more adventure. For dinner, you can stop in one of the numerous restaurants and if you haven’t had enough, you can toast your day with another glass of wine!
Day 3 – Departure from Okanagan Valley
Hopefully, your head doesn’t hurt too much this morning as it’s time to leave the sunny vineyards behind and embark on the next stop of your Canada adventure. From here, we suggest heading to the Rocky Mountains, but first, you might want to stopover in Wells Gray Provencial Park, where you can stay in a horse ranch and go horseriding through the surrounding hills, past spectacular waterfalls.
