Here you’ll head out on a small Zodiac boat in search of these incredible creatures, which slowly gliding through Victoria bay. After whale watching, you can embrace the English feel of the city with a high tea, or take a walk through the beautifully maintained botanical gardens.

Day 1 – Arrival in Victoria

Today you’ll travel to Victoria, a city with a distinctly British feel, on Vancouver Island. Victoria was colonised by the Brits in 1843, which explains the brick houses and pretty gardens that you’ll spot throughout the city. We recommend spending the afternoon having a traditional high tea of scones, sandwiches and tea in the elegant Empress hotel in Victoria Harbour before heading back to your hotel.

Day 2 – Whale watching

Today, you’ll set off for your whale watching excursion. At the harbour, you’ll board a large rubber dinghy boat known as a Zodiac, to search for the whales that migrate to these waters. There are three species of whale here and if you’re extremely lucky you might see a ‘superpod’ of whales! Keep your camera in hand, as you may only have a couple of seconds to grab your snap!

After your whale spotting excursion, you’ll travel back to Victoria Harbour where you’ll have the rest of the day free to explore this atmospheric Canadian city on your own. Stroll through the Inner Harbour, Victoria’s Boulevard, which is alive with the hustle and bustle of street vendors, artists, tourists and boats.

Day 3 – Departure from Victoria

It’s time to wave goodbye to Victoria, but if you’d like to extend your stay on Vancouver Island you can head to Quadra Island and enjoy a bit of sea kayaking. Otherwise, if you’re in the mood for more wildlife spotting, then head over to Tofino, on the wild cost of the Pacific Rim where you can go in search of black bears.
