Days 1-2 – Vibrant Vancouver

Start your Canadian adventure in this perfectly located city between the sea and the mountains. Vancouver sits in stark contrast to the vast and rugged nature of the rest of the country and is a highlight of western Canada not to be missed. See why it’s often heralded as the most liveable city in the world, as you explore the vast Stanley Park, stroll through the historic Gastown district and sample the many culinary delights in this multicultural city. During your stay we’ll arrange a guided bike ride through Stanley Park to help you get your bearings.

Days 3-4 Train tracks through The Rockies: Vancouver to Banff on the Rocky Mountaineer

Arrive bright and early at the station in Vancouver, in time to watch your train – the iconic Rocky Mountaineer – slowly pull in. Onboard, you’ll settle into your seat from which you’ll be served regionally inspired gourmet breakfast and lunch. For train enthusiasts and those who enjoy the journey as much as the destination, the route between Vancouver and Banff is one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world. From the train’s oversized windows you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of deep gorges, dense forest, rocky outcrops, and fast flowing rivers. On this two-day rail trip, you’ll also spend a night in Kamloops where we recommend dining out on Victoria Street and taking a stroll around Riverside Park.

Once you arrive in Banff you can settle into your central hotel and explore the town. Banff is a hot-spot in the Rockies and has an adventurous, fun vibe to it. It’s very tourist-friendly and has some great options for eating and drinking here. After a good night’s sleep, you can visit the National Park where you’ll find some of the best trails and views around. Pop into the park’s visitor centre where they can offer advice on the most suitable trail for your abilities. If you fancy some time relaxing then a visit to the Upper Hot Springs is a must, with its mineral waters drawn from deep within Sulphur Mountain.

After collecting your hire car in Banff, you’ll set off for your first drive heading to Jasper. This journey takes around 4 hours. In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the Jasper National Park is about as Canadian as it gets! Expect huge snow-capped peaks soaring above lush green valleys, waterfalls and bright blue lakes. You’ll spend a couple of nights in a lodge, nestled in the middle of the national park, surrounded by nature and wildlife. During your time here we will organise a guided group tour for you to explore the lakes and hiking trails of this beautiful part of the world.

Days 8-9 – Waterfalls & Walking Trails of Wells Gray

Today, back in your hire car, it’s a 4 hour drive from Jasper to Clearwater. Get back to nature and relax with two days off the beaten track in Wells Gray Provincial Park. Here you’ll stay in a lakeside cabin about 20 minutes drive from the town of Clearwater. We’ve left your stay free for you to explore independently. You can discover the park on horseback, on foot or by kayak. If this all sounds a little too active, sit back with a good book and a lakeside view – this is the perfect place to kick back and relax.

Days 10-11 – Adventures in Sun Peaks

Next you’ll hit the road for a short 2 hour journey, along alpine meadows and forests, to Sun Peaks. Located right in the heart of Canada, Sun Peaks is an alpine village offering plenty of outdoor activities. You’ll be staying in a traditional lodge located just steps away from the chairlift, so you can explore the mountains with ease. The following day you can test your balance on a stand-up paddleboard, gliding across the surface of a glistening lake. Spot birds, ducks and perhaps the red echoed turtle whilst on the water. You can spend the rest of your time here exploring the extensive trails by bike or on foot.

Days 12-13 – Tipi on Thompson River

Next, enjoy a scenic one-hour drive from Sun Peaks to the Thompson River, where your adventure continues with a stay in a traditional tipi tent just outside Lytton. Nestled between rugged canyons and the flowing river, this unique glamping experience offers an ideal way to connect with the Canadian wilderness. Spend your days strolling along the riverside, exploring the natural beauty, or tackle the river’s currents with a rafting adventure. In the evenings, unwind with a relaxing dip in the pool or hot tub, followed by a delicious barbecue as you soak in the peaceful atmosphere under the stars.

Head down to wine country today with a drive time of 2.5 hours. Between Vancouver and the Rocky Mountains is a fertile wine valley full of sun-drenched orchards and shimmering lakes with sandy beaches. You’ll stay in a lodge which offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and vineyards. Whilst here you’ll head out on a wine-tasting tour of the local vineyards in this area. You’ll visit 4 different vineyards, to get a true taste of all the variations of wine this region has to offer. There are full red wines and white fruity wines all waiting to be sampled.

For your final drive, you’ll head back to Vancouver, which should take you around 5 hours. Your hotel is located in the downtown area of the city, close to many bars and restaurants so you’ll have plenty to choose from for your final evening in Vancouver. The next morning you’ll drive to the airport and drop off your hire car, before checking in your bags and catching your international flight back to the UK.
