Tipi on Thompson River
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival at Thompson River
Today you’ll journey to Thompson River, the largest tributary of the Fraser River, and home to plenty of salmon which are often spotted swimming upstream. Your home for the night is a cosy Tipi, making for a truly unique experience on your family adventure! The tipis have proper beds and duvets, and you’ll be able to sit outside in the evening and enjoy the star-filled sky.
Everything you need is on-site, with a pool, hot tub, your own picnic table and a barbecue spot where you can unwind. Thompson River is a popular place for Candians to go rafting, and if you’d like to join in on the fun you can organise a rafting trip locally. This part of the river isn’t very wild, and you’ll be able to enjoy the view as you go along – but be prepared to get quite wet in the rapids!
Day 2 – Departure from Thompson River
Traditionally, tipis always open with the door facing east, so when you step outside in the morning, you’ll be met by the sun. After a dip in the pool, you’ll continue through the Canadian landscape. On your way to the Rockies, you can visit the adventurous town of Sun Peaks or take a pit-stop at Mount Revelstoke National Park.
