Mountains & Lakes of Banff
Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Banff
You’ll find Banff high-up in the stunning Rocky Mountains. As you’ll likely be arriving along one of the world’s most famous roads, the Icefields Parkway, it may take most of the day as you stop off at several of the many spectacular lookouts along the way for a family picnic or selfie! Once you arrive in the town, check-in to your central hotel and head off to find one of the many restaurants or bistros that line the main street.
Day 2 – Explore the lakes
This morning you can head out to the famous Lake Louise and nearby Moraine Lake. It’s a family-friendly area with lots to explore. Take a walk around the lakes, ride the gondola for some impressive views or pitch up for a picnic next to the impossibly blue waters.
Day 3 – Free time to explore
Today you’ll have the whole day to explore the National Park and town – there are plenty of walking trails to try out and family-friendly restaurants for a tasty meal, as well as an interesting museum where you can learn about Canada’s indigenous people. If you fancy some time relaxing then a visit to the Upper Hot Springs is a must, with its mineral waters drawn from deep within Sulphur Mountain.
Day 4 – Departing Banff
For most, this will sadly be the end of your Canadian family adventure, with an easy drive to Calgary just a couple of hours away for your flight home. If this is the start of your adventure, then the famous Icefields Parkway awaits!
