Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Arrival in Kuching
After you land in Kuching you’ll be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel, which is located in the heart of Kuching; just walking distance from all local attractions and the boulevard. Kuching has a very lively waterfront, perfect for a long leisurely stroll. You’ll spot the traditional taxi boats, which will take you across Sarawak River and give you an even better view of the city.
Day 2 – Kuching – cycling and river cruise
This morning you’ll head out on a cycling tour of Kuching. You’ll cycle past temples and monuments, and even get to stop in the heritage area, where you’ll fill your stomach with some tasty authentic street food. Later, you’ll take a relaxing cruise along the Sarawak River on a traditional Sampan boat. Sailing along, your guide will show you rural Malay villages and wooden bridges lining the banks of the river. Along the way, you can explore the exciting and exotic open-air market of Kubah Ria; full of colours, eateries and plenty of food. After 4 hours you’ll return to your hotel and the rest of your day is free for you to explore.
Day 3 – Departure from Kuching
Today it’s time to say goodbye to Kuching. If you aren’t visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sabah, then there’s another chance to get up close to these endearing primates at the Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary. It’s located an hour away from the city centre and is open daily. If you would like us to include a half-day trip to the sanctuary, please let your Travel Specialists know and we’ll extend your time in Kuching.

Semenggoh Orangutan Centre
During your time in Kuching, you have the option to visit Semenggoh, a temporary home for various endangered wildlife in Sarawak, especially orangutans that have either been orphaned or rescued from captivity. Here, they’re trained in all the survival skills, to venture out into the wild and fend for themselves. This tour can be arranged either in the morning or afternoon, to make sure it fits with your day and you get to see feeding time with the the orangutans.
River Sunset Cruise
If you fancy a river sunset cruise, then in the late afternoon you’ll head to the jetty and board your boat taking you along Kuching’s famous city river. This is a great way to view Kuching from a different angle and will transport you back to a time when goods were shipped across the city, before the invention of modern roads. Sit back and relax on the deck, get yourself a drink, and watch the sun go down over the horizon… Bliss!
Bamboo Rafting Day Trip
Experience the traditional bamboo rafting of the Bidayuh tribe on the serene Sirin River. As you float through rainforest, bamboo groves, and local villages, you’ll get a unique glimpse of the region’s natural beauty. Expect some splashes along the way! At midday, stop at a scenic pebble beach for a BBQ lunch, where your guides will cook local Bidayuh dishes in bamboo. After lunch, continue your journey, with opportunities to swim in deeper river pools, and return to Kuching by late afternoon.
Rainforest Kayaking
While in Kuching, we can arrange a kayaking adventure in nearby Bengoh. With an English-speaking guide, you’ll paddle through calm waters surrounded by limestone rocks and lush rainforest. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to swim in the river and visit a Bidayuh tribe village. After a relaxing trip, you’ll return to your hotel in the afternoon.
Bako National Park - Day Trip
We can arrange a day trip to Bako National Park for you. It is about a 35 minutes drive from Kuching to Bako Village where you will take a short boat ride to the park situated on a peninsula. Bako is one of the best places in Sarawak to see wildlife in a natural setting. The various types of animals that are commonly spotted at Bako include the proboscis monkeys, silver leaf monkeys, long tail macaques, wild boars, monitor lizards and numerous species of birds. Tropical rainforest ranges from mangrove to kerangas (heath forest), tropical swamp vegetation, cliff vegetation and beach vegetation. There are also several trails to follow inside the park depending on level of fitness and interest. At the end of your trip you will the transferred back to your hotel in Kuching around mid afternoon. (Schedule may depend on tide) Please note this is a join‐in tour, so you may have other international travellers going on this trip with you.
